Today, Universitas Muria Kudus welcomed us with a simple yet meaningful Welcome Event. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly introductions from both staff and students, which instantly made us feel comfortable in this new environment.
Before the formal program began, we were invited to a food gathering where we had the chance to taste authentic Kudus cuisine. We were served Soto Kudus made with buffalo meat, a rich and flavorful soup that carried a distinct local taste. It was my first time trying Soto with buffalo, and it was both tender and deeply spiced, a true reflection of Kudus’ culinary heritage. To complement the meal, we enjoyed Es Dawet, a sweet and refreshing drink made with coconut milk, pandan jelly, and palm sugar perfect for the warm weather. While sharing the meal, we interacted with local students, exchanged stories about our different cultures, and even learned a few simple Indonesian phrases. It was a relaxed and friendly moment that helped us connect before the formalities of the program. Afterward, the official program began with a short yet heartfelt welcome speech from the university officials. They expressed their happiness in hosting us and highlighted how cultural exchange can strengthen friendship and understanding between people from different countries. Their sincerity made us feel truly valued as guests. The event ended with light conversations and group photos to capture the day’s warmth and hospitality.Friday, July 18, 2025
